Visit our first retail location! You can find us at Oakes Brothers Marketplace in Caldwell, Idaho. Enter from Indian Creek Plaza or Main Street, we are located on the upper level of the building!
Our Products
We carry an assortment of seasoning blends and rubs, as well as individual spices and herbs. New additions include loose-leaf tea, dip mixes and “spirit boosters” for your cocktail or mocktail.
Meet the Owners,
Craig & Katie Smith
After serving in the military for ten years and working at the VA for another ten years, Craig had a mid-life crisis and decided to become a chef. He worked as a chef for a while before he learned that his biggest passion was developing new and unique flavors. Meanwhile, Katie had entered him in to Food Networks “Great Food Truck Race”. Craig was accepted was competed on season 10. Craig and Katie have spent a lot of time working on new blends and selling them at farmers markets and shows in the Treasure Valley. In 2023 Katie convinced Craig that it was time to open a store, which led to Idaho Spice Company joining Oakes Brothers Marketplace.
When and Why did you start your business?
We started our business in 2019 selling online and at local shows and farmers markets. Idaho Spice Company was the brainchild of myself and my amazing wife (the smartest woman I ever knew, until she said I do). After spending my younger years thinking hamburger helper was high cuisine, I started teaching myself how to cook. There were few nights where we had to make a call to Pizza Hut, but I continued to learn. I then began learning the power of spices and spice blends. After playing around and making friends and family taste everything, not just once but 22 times I then knew I needed to share our spice blends with the world.
Describe what makes your business different or special?
We strive to provide the freshest products possible. We do not add any fillers or anti clumping agents to any of our products. We want our customers to know exactly what they are consuming.
Why did you choose Oakes Brothers Marketplace?
The very first farmers market we sold our products at was right outside of Oakes Brothers Marketplace. We have been a part of this community for many years now and knew that when we opened our first store, that it needed to be in this area. When we saw that a couple shops were going to be available, we knew that we had to take the chance. We have not regretted it since. The community of retailers in Oakes Brothers have really shown great support for one another.
